Ok, my wifes G62 which she has had for about a year has been acting up lately. Ramdom shut downs, it just freezes and Blue screens. So in an effort to fix it I just did a clean install Windows 7 Home Premium as what was installed from new. The new install has only been on the computer for about a week and its doing it again.

Specs, W7 Home Premium, i3, 4GB Ram, 500GB harddrive, not sure of exact model number, but can get it once I am home tonight if that makes a difference.

She only uses it for basic functions i.e. word and internet. Nothing complex and only programs installed is Office 2007, itunes, Firefox.

Any suggestions? I read something about blue screens are caused by power setting? any truth to that? I do know that she does just close the lid and doesn't hit the sleep (power button) then just opens it up when she wants to use it again.

Thanks for any help or suggestions

Have you tried some tests in bios?

Cleaned up the dust in the fan?
