My mom purchased a HP G62-225 a month or so ago. Recently she encountered an issue where launching Internet Explorer causes the laptop to hang badly (after hours of waiting it's possible it would fully launch, but she's never waited that long). She lives out of town but brought it over last week and there was nothing noticeably wrong going on - no tasks in the background, weird software, etc.
I couldn't find anything wrong with it but it kept doing it, so I did a full system recovery using the HP software. It worked great for about a week, but suddenly started doing the same thing again - hanging BADLY anytime Internet Explorer is launched. Since she hasn't installed ANYTHING on it this time for fear of it doing this again, I know it's nothing she's installing. Also, switching to Firefox or Chrome is a solution but not an acceptable one as this is obviously a hardware or pre-installed software issue that needs to be resolved.
Anyone with a similar model experienced anything like this? Thanks!

Try uninstalling all of the bloatware and using a different anti-virus unless that has already been done. I recommend trying ESET NOD32. Try it free for 30 days at ESET - Antivirus Software with Spyware and Malware Protection. If you are looking for a free replacement for her anti-virus software, try using Microsoft Security Essentials.
Alternatively, you can try doing a clean install. You can actually find a link to download an ISO of Windows 7 here on NBR and just use the product key on the bottom of the computer. However, you will most likely have to call and activate Windows.
