I have a dv9000 and I took it apart. I took off the heat sink over the GPu and found out there was no thermal paste, I have arctic silver 5 thermal paste should i put some on it? it seemed like there has never been any thermal paste on it whatsoever.

Unless you're suffering from overheating and/or overclocking the GPU, you don't really need to put AS5.
