so now i have a dv7t with gt 650m and seems like there are some issues i have to fix.

i also own a dv7t with 6770m and after i purchased i had to do lots of fixes to use the 6770m right, so im assuming this is normal.

    first,

how do i set my gt650m my main gpu? i dont want it to go back and fourth between 650m and intel intergrated gpu. do i have to bios and change setting to fixed like i did on my 6770m?

and my screen resolution only has four settings. there should be much more.

and about the driver..im using stock driver it came with,
are there any better drivers? i went to official geforce websites
and it said drivers cant be found..weird.i expected better from geforce..

do i have to install third party drivers to get the best performance for 650m?

I know you just came from an AMD GPU, and I'm sure you'll probably be on the same page on this but AMD's switchable graphics function sucked.

That being said, NVIDIA's Optimus program is much better; out of all the times I've started a game it automatically uses the 650M. Even if you do run into a situation where it doesn't automatically use it, you can right click on a program and there's an option to select with graphics processor you want to use.

I highly recommend that you don't make the dv7t continuously use the 650M - it generates a lot of unnecessary heat. Assuming you got the i7 core, there is already a lot of heat, especially if you have a quad core. I don't even believe there is an option in BIOS, but I wouldn't bother. Just let Optimus handle it or switch it yourself.

I don't know about the resolution issue, sorry.

I believe I read there are drivers on here but for some reason you can't find it on the NVIDIA website. Try searching around; it might be on HP's site also, under the model of your laptop.

If you want to upgrade the Nvidia drivers, you have to search in their beta page. Unless you are having issues though, I almost wouldn't bother, I didn't notice any change.

The older HP-recommended driver is running great on my dv6t-7000. It's much faster than I expected.

I'm using the newer beta drivers. I can't quite believe it but i can feel ~5fps improvement on Ghost Recon Future Soldier, which is, like, a very demanding game.

Please consider running something like Fraps to get an FPS rate to see if that's true.

I've noticed better performance with Beta drivers over the HP provided stable driver but I've run into more compatibility problems than I'd like to deal with.

And if you go to the NVidia control panel (right click on desktop and select the NVidia Control Panel option), you can set the 650m as the default hardware.

I'm using the RivaTuner OSD with the MSI Afterburner app. I usuallt got around ~31fps on my clocks in this certain mission. I was averaging ~36 after I updated the driver.
