He has(or had) the latest revison Dv6 withe 2gb 6770m and teh FHD screen. Its auto switching now between the Radeon and the Intel. Stick with your manual switching one ppl its far more stable, and it does what u want when u want it(ex-Nvidia Optimus user so I should know) :)

Why is it auto switching....? i was going to return my dv7tqe with my 900P screen for the 1080P one, but still sticking with the 1gb 6770 because i see not point to 2GB vram, im not going to have 3 screens with crazy resolutions hooked up. But i don't know now with everyone complaining about this auto switch crap....

I guess i should stick with what i have, i have 1 day left before i hit the 21 day marker, so yea, i dnt need anymore problems, im just mad i cnt run benchmarking programs @ 1080 res :(, unlless i hook to a external monitor.

Anyone here know how to get 3DMark Vantage to benchmark my Radeon? I have the new dv6t quad edition, and when I check my results, it seems to only score my Intel HD card, and makes no mention of my Radeon.

I cant even install Catalyst 11.5. Keeps saying cant download because my hardware is not supported. I know I have the right drivers, so I guess it only sees the Intel?

Wait so I'm stuck with HP's inferior drivers? What kind of bull is this >(

It happens to me too, and everyone else, its normal because of the switchable gfx, it annoys the hell outta me, i wish there was a way to fix it, but to my knowledge you can't. :( It is using your 6770m tho.

    Zippo718,
Did you read my post on the other page? It explains how to update to 11.5a&b, that should help you out with the ultra inferior HP drivers, let me know how it works. GL

For some reason my 3dmark vantage still works (kindof)

    stock was p6089

after possibly incorrectly installing 11.5b patch : p6854

My 3dmark11 stock score was a bit lower than everyone elses: p1468
I got a "warning" that my score was low due to slow physics score :/

Since updating to the 11.5b patch, when I run vantage the graphics seem to get stuck and flip back and forth between a couple of frames between each scene in its respective test. The benchmark goes through in vantage, but I can't get a result in 3dmark11 at all.

@BrokenSocial: I have the same problem with the flipping back and forth between frames in both 3dmark vantage and 3dmark11 (I thought it was normal...lol)

Good to hear that it wasn't just me lol. I still MIGHT have not installed them correctly but from the various driver issues that people are having and the people reporting on this forum concerning them, it's not surprising :/

I thought it was because of my NOOBNESS in terms of ATI drivers haha (and it still might be my fault, I don't know)

My games run pretty well however, I wish RIFT ran a bit better on my external monitor. QuakeLive is PERFECT, but what would one expect lol.

Rift is very good with the 1080p screen turned down to 768p...ULTRA settings are above 30fps with shadows set to "environment" rather than full. Silky SMOOTH. I'm talking of the major cities, on an active server which is a bit of stress-test. The 768p setting looks amazing on the 1080p screen if you have that upgrade. At 1080p you may have to tweak the hell out of your settings or set to LOW and add the visuals from there. On the dv6 1080p screen the lower rez is BARELY noticeable. When I hook it up to my 27'' monitor I can't really handle the 1080p setting except for low settings. I would just lower my rez for it but it looks really bad. It's my monitors fault really not down scaling well :/

If you are sticking with the laptop monitor, Rift runs VERY VERY well, and downscaleing the rez isn't an issue IMO.

Just completed 3DMark Vantage and 3DMark 11 with the stock drivers (8.810.4.1000). I have the dv7t-6000 with the manual switchable graphics, 6770M (1GB), 6GB RAM, and the i7 2720QM.

    3DMark Vantage
    Radeon 6406
    Intel 1968

    3DMark 11
    Radeon 1561
Intel won't run (no DirectX 11 support?)

I'm about to install 11.5a and 11.5b per IceBlu's instructions and will report back.

Okay ... 11.5b installed. Before installing 11.5a, I went ahead and did the intermediate update via Windows Update. The 11.5b numbers are in parenthesis. You can see about a 10% improvement for DX10 and about a 3% improvement for DX11. I didn't run the tests on the Intel graphics since that driver didn't change.

    3DMark Vantage
    Radeon 6406 (7040)
    Intel 1968

    3DMark 11
    Radeon 1561 (1601)
Intel won't run (no DirectX 11 support?)

    Hi all,

I'm getting a bit worried...since my 3d Mark Vantage score is only P6051. How do I get scores like you guys? I have the Dv6t-6100...but I can't overclock because both sapphire and afterburner wont' allow me to, and has no options for me to go past stock. I heard that we can't over clock if we have the 6100 with automatic graphic switching.

But I'm wondering if you guys are getting good performance after doing a minimal restore? Is the reason for my low score because of me upgrading straight from the stock ATI driver from the system to 11.5B (someone mentioned in this post to go to 11.5A first). Also...do you guys have any background apps running? I have left a lot in the system tray...pretty much anything that came with the system. Would removing them help?

If I do a minimal restore...could you guys guide me through what I would need to install after I do the HP system restore? Would I need to go to HP website and download all the drivers available for the system?

Sorry for all the questions - I thought I was pretty good w/ PCs until I came to these forums - I now know I am a newb. I would appreciate any guidance!!

I am running a minimal install. I highly recommend it. It's pretty simple, actually. First, back up any essential data. Then, reboot and hit [Esc] before Windows loads to bring up the option menu. Then choose F11 to do the system restore. The next menu should present you with three options in a column on the left hand side of the screen. I believe the last option is the minimal install. Once you choose it, the system will reimage the disk. This takes about 10 minutes. Then, it reinstalls all of the software, and this takes over 30 minutes. Good luck!

Does the minimal install include all the system drivers, or did you have to go to HP website to update some?

It includes all of the system drivers that I noticed with the full install without all of the bloatware.

    Hi!
I bought my DV7 2 weeks ago and was really dissapointed over the graphic performance of it.
I turned off the auto switching between the Radeon and the Intel, Only use the Radeon.
In 3D-software (maya and lightwave) it is a pain in the ¤%& using OpenGL-views.
The only game I play is WoW and at 1600x900 fullscreen, medium graphics, it work steady between 15-20 FPS! :(

I've updated the drivers as listed in this thread but got no better performance. When using 3D-marks I get around 0.9-1.2 FPS in the tests (except CPU-test which work fine).

When I read this post I downloaded TRIXX and tried just apply the standard settings, no overclocking.
With that suddenly WoW works in high settings around 55-60 FPS and OpenGL in LW and Maya works fine.
    I have no idea why?

If your machine is <2 weeks old then you likely have the dynamic switchable graphics we've all been debating about in numerous threads. Likely the reason you were experiencing performance like that is you needed to right-click on your desktop, select Configure Switchable Graphics, and set the executeable and/or shortcut for each of the programs you want to run on the ATI card to 'high performance'. Its a little convuluted but it works. TRIXX may have disabled running off the slower Intel HD. Or autodefaulted everything to high performance. I'm unsure as I've never used it, but going to take a look at it now.

I'm also a WoW player and at 1920x1080 with the game set on high (except view distance, set to ultra) I get 35-50 fps depending on where I am and what is going on. Likely the higher res I'm running and the addition of the ultra view distance accounts for the slightly lower FPS I see.

I don't know what ya'll are talking about. I can run Crysis 2 with 30 FPS with everything maxed out in 720p and I get 30 fps in mass effect 2 with everything maxed out in 1080p. The card is working great for me. Also, NBC confirms that the card is pretty high on the midrange.

What program are you guys using to OC, especially those who are increasing the voltages?

I've tried sapphire trixx to OC but it always ruins my OS and causes constant crashing and kernel failures/BSOD after using the computer on battery...
