Hi All,
As a future owner of such a powerful machine, i am immensely curious about what frame rates that these machines can achieve.
I would do these tests myself but alas, my system doesn't ship out until April 15th. I know there are many gamers crawling around on these forums, and a thread like this could be a deal maker in their books.
The tests that follow are done by a very generous community, willing to share their vast knowledge.
+Rep if this helps, and don't forget to +Rep the testers too!
Also can you list the following:
You are not limited to the two games that i listed. Any game that would give us a good idea of how powerful the machine is would be fine.Code:Game: Model: Processor: GPU: RAM: Internet Type: Settings: Resolution: Max FPS: Min FPS:
This would be really helpful to a lot of gamers looking into a cheaper alternative. Thanks in advance.

Game: Crysis 2
Model: DV7t QE

GPU: 6770m overclocked 850/950

On 1366x768:

I had Fraps running(as well as other useless programs running in tray now that I look at it) as overlay so that could have caused some performance decrease.
Temps got in mid 80s when I was on high settings for 1600x900 and went down from there. And 5 min after leaving game it is back down to 50. -

Updated with Crysis 2!
Thank you so much! -

How much of a difference is there between the 1600x900 and the 1366x768 for gaming. Also, how is the battery life with the 6 cell when gaming? The screen is the once thing holding me back from getting this.
-
-
Its a matter of opinion but, you can lower the resolution of the 1600x900 panel for games but you can't increase the resolution of the 1366x768 panel.
There is no way I could handle using 1366x768 for things other than gaming. -
And frankly, i'll only be using it for gaming/ simulations in college b/c i'm an going into engineering. -
can anyone do a test for Far Cry 2 on 6770m? thanks!
-
sc2 anyone? plz
-
I'll do this myself if someone doesn't test it before April 23rd (estimated delivery date for me). -
I have SC2 installed on my DV6t. I'll take a look tonight.

i do not actually understand the terms you have used ! but probably,me too being one of the future owners and an increasing fan of gamers,to put it in common mans terms,is the dv7t quad good enough for such high end games like crysis or crysis 2?
-
anyone got NFS:Shift 2 Unleashed running on the SB Dv7? Somewhere after autolog connects, the sound doesn't routes back to the earphones... and stays on the built in speakers whatever I try...

cool ! sure sounds great
cant wait to get my hands on it !

awesome, we got a SC benchmark
-
Not scientific by any means, but you get the general idea!
The DV7t and especially the DV6t will have no issues playing any of these games maxed out at their native resolutions. I've been running them all through my 32" 1080P TV. -
wow...
if it can run SC2 on max settings, @ 1366x768,
it belongs in the top tier.... -

Do you think the 6770m could run Far Cry 2 on ultra at 720p?

Mine is running COD black ops at the highest res relatively smoothly.
Very happy with the gaming performance -

All these benchmarks and there are still the "Can this run XYZ?" type questions. Mindboggling.
The 6770M GPU and base i7-2630QM CPU runs Crysis 2 in the 40FPS range on High at native resolution. It is going to play whatever game you have a question about perfectly fine. -
-
wow, I love my lappy, and its not even here yet!
-
This program has been around forever, and although it keeps evolving to make use of hardware innovations, it was written at a time when GPU state was pretty immature. The images are in no way as complex as what the current generation of video games have to offer, but interesting all the same.
For my purposes, the evenly spacing of frames over a period (a second) is MORE important than strictly FPS. I am happy with 29.97 fps as long as the fluidity of the motion remaining very high and evenly distributed during the recording process. -
Can this run farmville?
