hi, im having horrible problems running a certain game on my dv9500t, the game is battlefield 2. my setup is as follows:
    - intel core 2 duo t7500 2.2 ghz
    - 2 gig ram
    - geforce 8600m GS
    - windows vista home premium

i installed the game and basically it would just flash the "splash screen" (like its getting ready to get into the game) and then just come right back to the desktop..... i tried everything from updating drivers to adjusting resolutions for the game. nothing will work. in fact, last nite i installed a driver because i was so frustrated and it happened to crash my laptop and now i have this "black ink drying up" effect when my computer is rebooting... really weird... so i said screw it and just used my system recovery disc to start over again...

is there anyone out there that has a similar setup as me and plays this game? i know its a popular game so there must be someone who plays it. if you have any insight on how i can get this game to work - please tell me. i am getting desperate here and it seems like i've tried everything.

    thanks.

My guess is that this is more of a Vista issue than a GPU issue. The 8600 should have no problem handling battlefield 2. Make sure you have the latest Nvidia Geforce driver. Maybe that will help. Other than that I'm not really sure what to do other than maybe installing XP on the system.

Maybe its your vista when the game is desinged for XP, I have the same setup with my dell inspiron 1520 except with XP I can play Battlefiled 2 at max settings at around 50 frames per second.

a little off topic here but...i keep trying to run the Lost Planet Demo but no luck. I've tried both dx9 and 10 but it keeps on saying "d3dx10_33.dll was not found" (dx9 too)...anybody have any luck with that demo?

Hey man. I have a 9500 as well. Its funny you post this because I had the same problem running it on my 9000t, which i returned to get the 9500t with the same specs as you. I had the same issue with the crashing. Its deff not vista because that game is supposed to be able to work with 32-bit. They say on the web site that most laptop gpu's are not compatible. I don't know wut the problem is either and I'm really mad because i practically built this laptop for that game. Good luck man and if you find an answer shoot me a message.

you definitly have a software problem of some sort as your hardware should easily be able to run that game.
