Hello,
a short period before I updated my ATI 6770m on my HP-Pavilion notebook, I was experiencing some gaming problems. The games run smoothly before that period, but now the game doesn't run smoothly and lags. I updated the driver hoping that this would solve the problem, but it didn't do anything. I downloaded the HDD Sentinel programm, and it showed me that the health of my Hard Driver was "25% Acceptable" and that there we bad sectors on it. Have the gaming problems sth to do with this? Can u help me solve my gaming issue?
Thank you

graphic driver on this PC is really confusing, all that 'AMD or HP' stuffs, bios, dynamic, fixed, etc... LOL
so
please do specify what driver you're using and what game u're having issue with as well as BIOS version etc
Providing more detail would help you getting the right answer more quickly -
If you can help me how to see the version of the BIOS, the graphic card etc. I will provide you with more info. I am pretty sure that I have the latest versions of these.
The problem partly started with F1 2011, when I installed some unofficial upgrade patches. Before that, CoD, League of Legends, Shift 2, everything run smoothly, but after this F1 didn't run properly so did CoD Modern Warfare 2. Even though I had some problems with these games, LoL was "unharmed" and played well. But now LoL has problems too. -
I suggest you uninstall any non-official mod especially graphic driver (with driver sweeper - google it, it's free)
Then go to HP support website, do a search using your product number, download the official drivers, install it and see what happen
Besides, try running HP support assistant (should be preinstalled on your computer) and click maintain, find the little 'refresh' button. This will inspect your system and automatically find updates -
What games were you trying to play and had issues with?

Someone else recommended it to me. It seems to be working just fine for me, I can switch between my GPUs alright. But you'd still have to update bios and change gpu settings from dynamic to fixed if you haven't already.
and @OP, the reason I asked is because some games are OpenGL based. If you still have dynamic switching on some of these games do not recognize your dedicated card unless you have it switched to fixed and have selected that card. -
To make it clear I haven't downloaded ANY unofficial driver for my graphics card, only for F1 2011.
The games that I tried to play and I had problems with were, F1 2011, CoD Modern Warfare 3, League of Legends. What to you mean by switching dynamic to fixed? My Switchable Graphics, also, works fine.
I downloaded Driver Sweeper and I would unistall the driver I have now installed, I am downloading the latest official driver from the HP Support. -
I run Driver Sweeper, uninstalled any previous driver software, installed the new driver that I downloaded from HP Support and the PC runs OK. I uninstalled F1 2011,as it was the source of the problem and now I will install it to see if anything has changed.

Well as long as you have the problem solved.
However, it is worth noting that some games (minecraft, for example) have OpenGL and it does not run well with dynamic switchable graphics. You may want to update your bios (latest on HP's site) and then when booting up, hit ESC and then you can change the GPU from 'Dynamic' to 'Fixed'.
You don't have to do it now, but it also makes it easier if you want to just simple switch between a video card.
Good luck! -
I didn't have the problem solved, unfortunately. I am looking the whole day on threads trying to fix it, but I haven't done anything. I am starting to think that it's a hard drive problem, as the health of it is 25% on the HDD Sentinel programm.

When did you begin to experience issues with it? What were you playing and did the performance progressively get worse or did you suddenly notice it?
-
I have problems for about half a month. I play LoL and the fps suddenly go to 2-3 fps. I also have problems with other games (CoD, F1 2011) as I mentioned before.

If you don't have it on fixed, all openGL content will run on the intel GPU. -
(Yes, i have had a hard drive go bad on me too) -
It seems to me that I am going to a Hard Drive swap. Fortunately, I bought a 3-year warranty and I won't pay anything. Thank you for your help and time!

Instructions rig... actually, never mind. I will just add them to my sig. -
OK the link is in my sig now.
-
I already have Graphics Switching set to Manual.
-
Then openGL is fixed. You just set the GPU and it will run on the one you have on.
