When I ordered my dv5000t, I recall seeing that the video card was a 128mb version, but every bit of software on my system identifies it at a 256mb version. Is this an identification error, or did HP simply upgrade my video card during assembly without my knowledge?

Hoping it's the latter. All opinions welcome, :)

P.S. - Would anyone here have an educated guess as to when the Merom Core 2 Duos will be available in retail? I've been looking forward to upgrading my current processor with something like the 2 ghz Core 2 Duo when I can.

    Thanks!

I am not really an expert in GPU but I think Nvidia 7400 has 128mb of dedicated and gets 128mb from your RAM and that amounts to 256mb total, so should not be a problem.

About the Core 2 Duo (Meron) I know is available if your order and new PC but if you mean just a CPU, we have to let other people answer it, I simply don't know.

    Hope it helped

Yes, its taking 128MB of RAM from your system, and 128MB of dedicated memory. I get the same thing with my X1600 as I know it has 256MB dedicated, but it allocates another 256MB when needed during gaming.

If I were seriously you, I wouldnt even bother upgrading to Merom untill next year or later. Your Core Duo is plenty enough power, and Vista isnt even worth upgrading in my mind.
