I just want to ask anyone who has this laptop (DV2000t), whether they have any problems with the graphic card.

I did a clean install of Windows XP Pro SP2. I installed all the drivers needed including the latest driver for Geforce Go 7200. Everything works fine but unfortunately, every time I play games (in my case Warcraft 3 TFT), i got the famous blue screen of death.. i managed to play the game for a while until i got the error.

I attached the screenshot of the error that I got. It says that nv4_disp caused the error. Does anyone got this error so far?

I tried playing Typing of The Dead (managed to play the game for a while) and the same error occurred. And then I tried Doom 3, FEAR and as I suspected, same thing happened. I uninstalled the driver and installed it again hoping it will fix the problem, but the error still occurred.

The thing is that, I uninstalled the driver, and re installed the old version of the driver (found it on HP website), and somehow I could play Doom 3 but of course, the graphic sux. (previously, when i was using the latest display driver, i managed to get to the in-game menu, but the game crashed when i tried to play it). Can anyone test his/her laptop for me and play the games that I mentioned above (either Warcraft 3 TFT, Doom 3, FEAR, or Typing of The Dead). I just want to see whether my case is an isolated case or not.

So if you guys got the same error, then this might be a common problem for Geforce Go 7200 and hopefully nVidia will release a new driver that will fix the problem.. If not, then I might have to ask HP to fix my laptop.

Here is the spec of my laptop

This only happened once to me, and that was when I tried playing HL2:Lost Coast at absolute MAX settings, and it gave me the screen. But playing F.E.A.R., Doom 3 is fine for me. No blue screen;s here. I think it has to do with overheating. Or you might be pushing the graphics card to hard, what settings do you have F.E.A.R and Doom 3 at. My F.E.A.R settings are: No shadows, graphics card settings at medium, and CPU settings at Max. It is in 800x600. Doom 3 is the same, 800x600 medium settings. The lappy is in my sig.

I dont think an overheating card will give you a BSOD, your screen will either get artifacts or entirely shutoff.

So, its most likely a driver issue, or some type of drive/software conflict issue.

    1. Download Latest Drivers
    2. Uninstall your drivers
    3. Reboot
    4. Use this DriverCleaner
Then use this to make sure they are fully uninstalled.
    5. Reboot
    6. Reinstall New Drivers
    7. Reboot

Every game that played, i used the lowest setting and my laptop still crashes.

Thanks for the suggestions usapatriot, i followed your instructions, but the problem is still occurring.. i wonder whether i got a bad graphic card.. if only i had not sold the printer to that comes with my laptop to my friend, i would have returned this laptop..

so anyone else is having this problem??

Try a different(prior to the one you have on there) nvidia driver. They have archives.

I followed the steps that usapatriot gave before and uninstall my current driver, and then I download the previous driver (Geforce GO 7200 only has 2 drivers) and then i ran F.E.A.R.. it crashed too... sigh..
