I just starting using my dv6000t. Note - This is my first laptop so these questions may sound stupid.

The instructions said to plug the battery in. I also have the ac adapter plugged in. It needs to stay plugged in to charge the battery, correct? The battery icon on the bottom right says its fully charged, but does that just mean its because its plugged in? Any advice on how to care for the battery? Can I use the laptop plugged in and the battery not attached? Is having the battery attached all the time a bad thing or it doesn't matter? I just don't want to screw up the battery.

1.) if the battery is fully charged, it's fully charged. If you are plugged in and charging it will say something such as "on ac power...charging xx%, xxhours xx minutes until complete."
2.) Check out the battery guide as mentioned. Basically it's pretty fool-proof.
3.) Yep, you can run on AC w/o the battery.
4.) There are various opinions..I am of the school that it's not worth the hassle for a slight battery improvement (but I move my laptop frequently as a college student, in the summer perhaps I would remove it.)

Thanks for the responses. Does anyone happen to know whether the dv6000t comes with a battery door/cover so when the battery is not plugged in, there's no hole?

I am 99% sure there is nothing like that, and I wouldn't be worried about dust or anything. Just enjoy it! ;)
