    This is a generic question.
And excuse me not post it in DM4 lounge room, but I don't think someone is reading there.

I have DM4 1xxx with: integrated Intel HD graphics + ATI mobility HD 5450.

    HP's drivers are really OLD.
I can see new (updated) drivers both on Intel and ATI's sites.

Is it SAFE to install these drivers, or I have to stay on the HP owns?

    What is the procedure?

Sorry if this has been asked before, could not find the proper answer.

not the intel drivers, but you can install the AMD drivers over the HP drivers.

make sure you install OVER the HP drivers, as in, dont uninstall the HP one before you install the AMD one.

    Sweet. Thanks teotuf!
Just out of curiosity: why can't I update the Intel ones?
Who is "responsible" for making the link for the switchable drivers?
And when could we update the Intel drivers?

hp implements the "switching" between the two GPUs, and updating the intel breaks the switching.

i think you can only update the intel driver when HP decides to update the driver package.
