Well, I'm impressed by its power.. really fast and stuff..

In the box, you get alot of CDs\DVDs Recovery:

    - Windows Vista Business SP1 32-bit
    - Windows Vista Business SP1 64-bit
    - Windows XP Professionnal
    - Windows XP Sp3 (service pack)
    - DVD Drivers for Vista
    - DVD Driver for XP

Mine came with XP custom installation, but I installed Vista 32-bit.

With these specs, I thought that this laptop would be warm as hell. But.. no!
While idle the CPU goes between 33-36C

And while playing Need for Speed: Carbon (High Details, 1280x960, 4xAA) the temps went up to 50c... That's the temp of my NC8430 when idle!

I don't know the GPU temps, but it's a bit warm under the notebook while idle.. but when gaming, the keyboard gets warmer.

I think the secondary battery helps cooling this beast ;)
I've got some 4500 points for 3dmark06 but I'll have to retest that point.

The things that clips the lcd to the laptop are weird.. I suspect some breaking after times.

I'll take photos this week. Maybe tomorrow :p

Edit: With Wireless ON, the lowest brightness and Power Saver on Vista, I got 4 hours with the primary battery.

That's pretty remarkable for a 17" unit with an 8 cell battery.

Something is wrong with your GPU setup (drivers?). I just got my 8730w with the same configuration (the smart buy) the other day and am getting ~7300 on 3dmark06 with the latest drivers on www.hp.com (Vista 32-bit).

BTW.. the SWXGA+ LCD on this laptop is awesome.

    I don't know what happened, but now the 3dmark06 is 7286 :p
Ohh.. maybe because it was charging the battery...

Including VAT it's 1785 Euros. You can buy it from any HP distribuitor for this price in Romania.

That's more reasonable... well even then considering you're from Romenia, it must be some hard cash to give for a laptop.

Yes, were you actually doing anything with the laptop during that time? the HP only has an 8 cell li battery. How would a 17" desktop replacement manage 4hrs on battery?

Surfing on the Web, listening musics, chatting on MSN and reading theories in CCNA 4 Exploration, with lower brightnes of the LCD, Wireless ON, Powermizer off while 30 mins until I noticed that: 3 h 53 mins.

    Happy?

Nice. I don't know how it does that? How is the display? I'm looking at this laptop vs the Lenovo W700 and I've heard at least one review say that despite the W700's 400 nit brightness and wider color range, the HP still looks better.

I'm not a guy that looks if it's vibrant or not (but shouldn't have any dead pixels), but the brightness is alright. The texts are clear. It is better than a
    Hp TX2000 xD
