I installed XP Pro on this system (a dv9000t) not too long ago, and I can't get DVDs to play in anything, even Windows Media Player, as it needs an MPEG-2 codec to work. Any tips/suggestions/advice on what to do? I've been trying to get QuickPlay installed to no avail, but at the moment all I want is to at least get WMP to work.

Thank you, that was exactly what I was looking for. :D

Now if I can only get my SATA Native support to work, I'd be golden. :p

Can you download and run CPU-Z? Could you post a screen shot of the Mainboard tab in the application?

Yes, if you right click and select 'Run as Administrator' you should have no issues. You may not even need admin rights, but that guarantees you'll have no problems.

HP has the Intel chipset driver on the drivers page for XP (will enable your native SATA )

Hmmm...I thought I'd downloaded the drivers and tried them (kept getting an error saying they weren't the right ones). I'll go back to HP's site and see if I can try them again.

EDIT: The Intel Chipset Installation Utility for ICH7 downloads and installs fine. The Intel Matrix Storage Manager download tells me that I have incompatible hardware. And the Intel SATA AHCI Controller Driver wants to make a floppy, which is kinda hard considering that I don't have a floppy drive. :-/

Do I just want to remember where it saves it, then update the driver manually in Device Manager?
