A friend and I have been desperately trying to get his Conexant HD SmartAudio 221 card on his HP DV6736nr to have the ability to use Wave Out Mix. Here is what we posted up on Yahoo answers. We decided to post here so we can see what you guys can come up with. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! The question link is here:

    ***********************************************************

I've been looking high and low, and searching far and deep, and even changing values in the registry to produce Wave Out Mix (Stereo Mix) on my Conexant HD 221 Sound Driver. I looked deep within many drivers and the one I currently am using and Wave Out Mix is clearly there. I've been patient long enough and now I need to know if there is a driver out there that has it enabled... because I've done at least 20+ drivers. I have Windows XP Professional SP3 on a HP Laptop with a AMD Turion 64x2 Processor if that helps with anything.

(Trust me, I did even Vista drivers to see if anything worked at all, and I'm just at the end of my rope with this... I need a driver with Wave Out Mix for my XP)

    Additional Info:

As a heads up to people posting answers... I know the poster personally and have assisted him on trying to figure out this issue. We have tried every conceivable driver possible that we could get our hands on. Nothing produces Stereo Mix (or Wave Out Mix or What U Hear) that we have come across. Responders, if you have conexant sound cards with Wave Out Mix as an option in your volume control, I ask two things of you:

    1. PLEASE post your driver version as well as the date your driver was released. This will help us (and other people who read this post) narrow down possible solutions considerably.

    2. After working with sound cards and drivers for a number of years, I know that the only thing truly providing functionality to the driver is the main .INF file found in the driver's folder. If there is ANYONE on here who can help us modify the .INF file to include Wave Out Mix in the install, that would be greatly appreciated. My friend's current driver is Conexant HD Audio version 3.47.0.0, released on 1/21/08.

Also a note to all responders who may give us links with new drivers to try: Even though he posted that his conexant sound card is the SmartAudio 221 version, we have tested several REGULAR (e.g. non SmartAudio) drivers and some HAVE worked, but not provided what we wanted. I think ultimately this may come down to us having to modify the .inf file, but new links to conexant drivers are appreciated. My friends computer model is an HP dv6736nr, but we will accept conexant drivers from ANY site as long as Wave Out Mix is achieved. If you have a different notebook/manufacturer than my friend and you have a Conexant card, please tell us your laptop's model number and make. We would really appreciate it! Thank you.

    *********************************************************

In summary, what my friend and I want to be able to do is have the ability to use Wave Out Mix on his laptop. The ability is definitely there... We both can see it when we open the .INF file with the driver. If anyone knows of a driver that has Wave Out Mix for the Conexant sound card OR can help us modify the current .INF file we have, that would be great. Thanks!

Hi, I have the same problem with SmartAudio 221 on HP G60-230US. Also I have a HP dv6426us that us Conexant HD Audio (not SmartAudio 221) that have Wave Out Mix, I've look at the inf file from both drivers and it seem to me they are completely different. Anyway, the Conexant HD Audio driver for XP filename is sp34204.exe you can find it on HP download support website. If you can come up a solution that would be great, I think currently there are no stereo mix/wave out mix for SmartAudio 221.

    Good Luck!
