Hi all, I am the proud owner of a brand new HP HDX which I'm very happy with now I've got it al set up with my apps and work stuff etc. I'm also the proud ownder of a double hernia after picking it up a couple of times. :)

However, ideally I'd like to be able to dual boot into XP. Now, I know that there is little driver suport for a lot of the HDX hardware and features. I'm not too concerned about that as I don't want to do very much under XP. In fact the only think I want to do is access my employer's publishing system to add articles I've written via their CMS. Unfortunately, the private network manager system we have to log in via only works in XP or 2000, no vista support and nor will there be.

So basically, all I want to be able to do is boot into xp now and again, run ie6, log into the system and publish. I don't care about sound and hot button support etc. I just want to be able to access the net, by ethernet to my router and wirelessly. Graphic card supprt would be nice as I have a shedload of macros written to automate some of the repetetive processes which were recorded with a display of 1440x900.

So, I'm not asking for the earth I thought but bugger me. I can't even get past installing XP. I know I need to streamline the Sata drivers into my XP Pro SP 2 install disk and I can do that in nline with no problem. In fact I've done that but it still doesn't detect the hard disks.

Everest destects that the Sata controller is Silcons Sil 3531 and I've donloaded the driver for that, streamlined it into my install CD, see it load when it's installing but it then tells me it can't detect the disks in the machine.

Am I doing something blindly stupidly wrong? Have i got the hardware identified wrongly? Identified the wrong driver? I'm all Googled out.

I know from reading on here that others have managed to get XP on. Any help, pointers, information would be greatfully received.

With thanks for any help and info offered
    Mike
