When you first get a notebook or any PC for that matter from HP, Dell or any other mainstream company, they put alot I MEAN ALOT of unwanted apps and programs that bogg down the system to a crawl. Reinstalling XP basically gets rid of the bloatware and you come out with a clean system that will be alot faster than before.

Looking at all these keyboard complaints I changed my idea. Since all I do is type and chat with friends.

Try a Dell 1505, with coupons you can get a good deal on one of those. Or, if you still end up not finding something better for the price of a dv5000t, buy a $10 USB keyboard and use that instead.

This keyboard thing; My cousin owns a dv5000t and she is a constant IMer. That keyboard takes more punishment than the average typer. Not a single thing has happened since she got it in March.

I canceled my dv5000 and got a dv6000. If you are only typing get the cooler looking one with bluetooth and get a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Leave the usbfree for other useful things.

Keyboard issues aside, get 4 blank dvds and burn the recovery partition before you decide to reformat. The forum is full of posts starting with "I decided to reformat but I forgot to burn...." :) Just so you know
