I did a fresh install of Vista, not one off the HP recovery disks. I am missing some HP software that I can't download off the site. Mainly the stuff that I need:

1.) The fingerprint reader software (I was able to get the driver but it doesn't do any good without the software)

2.) The HP quickplay stuff, as well as the remote control that goes in the card slot

3.) When I move my finger over the volume control buttons it no longer clicks

I burned the two recovery DVD's, but I can't seem to figure out how to selectively install certain software without completely wiping my entire system clean and doing a full out recovery with all the HP bloatware.

Did you copy SWSetup? That folder contains all the drivers/software installers that comes on your system.

Check my page in signature for a link to get the Fingerprint Software.
You can download the QuickLaunch Buttons Soft on HP Drivers and Soft page - that's for the volume button.

No, I did not copy SWsetup, I thought the recovery disks would do that and I would be able to selectively install things.

Thanks for the link to the fingerprint reader software, I got that working.

The two things I can't seem to get working yet are:

1.) The tapping noises the touch buttons on the top of the keyboard are still gone, it wont click as I move the volume up or down.

2.) Some of the buttons on my card slot remote control don't work, like the media center button

#1 is controlled in the BIOS. You can turn beeping on and off in there. If that's not what you're talking about, I'm not sure.

#2 Requires both quickplay and the "quickplay buttons" software. They are 2 separate things.

#3 You really should just do a system restore and then save the C:\swsetup folder. There's probably other stuff you need in there as well. If you were following my guide, please go back through it and make sure you did every step.

Ok, thanks. Yea it looks like I made the mistake of not saving the SWsetup folder.

Maybe when I get some free time I will run the recovery disks and start over again.

    Thanks!
