Oh my bad. I can't read haha. You need a power source. Does your laptop have an extra port?

You could temporarily remove your current keyboard and see with your own eyes if the motherboard has led power plug. You need to remove it anyways if you are going to replace it :)

I Just put this backlit keyboard in my DV6-3225dx and it works (plus feels) great. :D

New HP DV6-3000 9Z.N4CBQ.11D US Keyboard with backlit | eBay

Shipping from Asia took about 8 days to California. I believe all the 3000 series have the little header on the mother board so you should be good to go.

wow that looks amazing! how hard was it to install? i wanted to do it but i was skeptical about opening my laptop and then figuring out i wont have a slot for it and of course voiding my warranty on my 3 month old laptop but i feel like doing it now

btw the link you sent, the sale ended but i found this? http://cgi.ebay.com/New-HP-Pavilion..._Trackballs&hash=item483ecb3d68#ht_5833wt_990

Yes, you are correct. To confirm, this is the current eBay offering: New HP Pavilion DV6 DV6-3000 US Backlit Keyboard Black | eBay

It takes only 10-15 minutes to do the swap. Just reference page 65 of the service manual available here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02657339.pdf

Below is the location of the backlight header on the main system board under the keyboard. It is also silkscreened in white on the board so it is easy to find.

Just wondering if the backlight on the keyboard can be switched on/off when needed (or not), or even if there is a light sensor that can control it automatically (and can be turned on/off manually as well)?
Or will it permanently be backlit?

Thinking of ordering one of these soon.

    Thanks :)

    Thanks mate :)
Was hoping that would be the case.

EDIT: sorry, i was just looking at the images of the previous poster & the ebay ads, specifically this one http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI...885328&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2662wt_905
(as it's the only one on sale at the moment), and can't see which key is the dedicated on/off one?

It appears to look exactly the same as my stock keyboard (note i have an australian model).
    Thanks again :)

I have an Australia model too ;).

It's exactly the same as the non-backlit keyboard except for one key. Instead of the Pause key it's a ....* key to turn the backlit on/off.

    Hope that helps. :)

Changing the keyboard voids warranty? If not, is there one for DV6T? :)
