I just got my dv5t and burned some recovery discs. Now I'm wondering if I still need the "HP_RECOVERY" partition. It takes 11 GB by itself and if it's only good for burning the recovery data onto some discs, then do I even need the partition anymore? I'd rather get the 11 GB back.

Is this possible/safe? What's the best way to do it? I found a program on the HP software/driver download site but it didn't seem to do anything (the program had like no instructions or explanations on what to do other than just execute the file).

As long as you've burned the discs it should be fine to delete the recovery partition. To do it, open up recovery manager, find the advanced options tab, and there should be an option to remove/delete the recovery partition. From there just follow the prompts. If you ever want to restore it, it can be done using the recovery discs that you burned. ;)
