I have a 6500t with 10/100 networking which will replace my desktop that has 10/100/1000 networking. I already have the gigabit switch which runs from my desktop to my home server, and the speeds are great.

I'm wondering what you guys/gals use for gigabit networking?

I've already searched and came up with the thread (below) and several threads that had no reply to the subject.

I'm leaning towards a Linksys EC1000 Gigabit Express Card.

I'd appreciate thoughts or suggestions on gigabit networking. I won't use wireless in my network, not even "n" as I've found gigabit very fast, at least on my desktop.

    Thanks!

GLAN has no use besides file transfer.

    I'd assume that's what he's doing.

The express card option would be the best route.

Yes, that is what I'm doing, currently going from my desktop to a windows home server (like a nas box, but with more features).

Most of the files I send over my (internal) lan is 3 to 5 gbs so a glan is a must.

I took a leap of faith over the summer and purchased a gigabit switch. I already had two computers with gig cards in them already. I was amazed at my test results. Files that took 30+ minutes to move, went to 10 + minutes. I can't go back to 10/100... to much time saved on my end.

I did not know at the time of purchase that pcmi was replaced by express... guess I should have done more research outside of memory, cpu, and hard drives. lol
