Now for my questions. I chose the 512mb ddrsdram, but I want to upgrade to something better from a third party (newegg), so what is "200-pin" and "xxx-pin"? I'm actually a noobie when it comes down to memory. What is the best ram for 80.00-120.00 out there that the dv2000t supports? I was looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820221043 for ram. How easy is it to upgrade ram? Is there a guide of some sort? Also same for the HDD, I just chose 40 GB 5400 because I want to upgrade it to a 100 GB 7200 RPM HDD, was looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822146052 . How easy would it be to upgrade the HDD? I've built my own desktop and stuff, but I've never dealt with laptops and this will be my first laptop that I purchase. Many thanks and cheers!

that HDD your looking at is not SATA its PATA, newegg no longer carries the SATA version, MWAVE has the next cheapest one.

is there some kind of guide that would aid me in the process of removing and installing HDD/RAM if I choose to go this route?

Man, everytime i see that someone says T, i get disappointed. I get disappointed, well im an amd fan, because I see that even though AMD provides a great solution but its still limited by the manufactur. I know they can have much a higher speeds solution for there Z series but they somehow limit the AMD but allows the Intel get much higher speeds. Obviously by doing this it will somewhat deter people from buying AMD.

The Intel duo core's perform much faster then the AMD's. Even the faster AMD's don't perform as fast as slower Intel duo core chips.
Also, the Intels provide better battery life. Not really sure what advantage the AMD processor on the dv2k machine's provide right now, except that they are less expensive.
Oh, and in a year, or whenever Microsoft releases it's new OS, you can purchase it for several hundred dollars, and it might run faster on a 64 bit processor. -
what are you talking about? The Turion X2 does a better job than the Intel Core Duo, I think you mean Core 2 Duo. It hasnt come out yet, but the Turion as of right now preforms very well against the Core Duo. its only lacking because HP hasnt released there 2.0ghz Turion X2 yet on the DV2000 series. Only higher on other models. The battery Life has aways been disappointing for AMD but i still rather have 64bit support and good preformance. also on top of that the AMD, had a good intergrated solution compared to the intel graphic accelerators. may be the reason why i think the battery does poorly than expected. -
I played V6000Z at Fry's yesterday, just want to get some feeling about 6150 and its powerize feature. It does have the tunning bar in there, I wonder if someone can test how much it will save the battery.
TL-50 doesn't make me feel slow. However testing scores show it is always slower then Core Duo with the same frequency. SuperPi almost always lean to Intel and single core prefered. AMD may does CPU power saving alone pretty well, but Intel win on system level right now. Unless someone can figure out how to twick 6150 power saving (undervolting/underclocking maybe) to catch the Intel score.
Untill now, everybody compare t/945GM battery life to z/6150. Not much comparison had done on t/7200(14") vs. z/7200(15.4"). To my concern, this is an apple to apple compare.
Sad thing is: HP seems never release 2000z based 7200 machine.
Going to purchase dv2000t, but a few questions
