I myself would have bought it if it came with the higher resolution screen (1680x1050). Other than that, it's plenty good enough. However, for you, it all boils down to whether you can stand to wait while transcoding video. Remember that trying to find an equivalent laptop will cost you MUCH more ($1500+) so spend wisely!

The T5500 is a zippy little processor, I have one myself. I opted for a higher resolution screen, but I enjoy having more screen real estate than alot of people.
That price is fantastic though, I would jump on that.

I have that exact same laptop, except mine was new. I got it for $1349 +tax at CC, and to this day I still think it's a great deal. I even managed to fix my latch problem without sending it off :p

I love it myself. Great, bright screen, with vibrant colors. Even the battery life is not too shabby (2.5 hours, but mind you I've got it set to pretty hefty power management settings. However, I wasn't expecting even that much when considering a 17" laptop).

If you trust Costco and their refurbished stuff, then go for it.

i was thinking about trying it and they have 90 days so if its not fast enough for video encoding i can always exchange it, but it seems like a good deal

the difference between this and a t7200 wud probably be 5-20mins so in the end if a faster CPU costs more than its worth then just get this one, its a good deal and a good CPU
