    That's after a $50 M.I.R.

    I'd definitely want to double the RAM to 2GB. Am I correct in assuming that it comes with two 512MB sticks?

    Any flaws I should be aware of besides "the whine"? This would be for a non-gaming college student.

    Check in costco, there is one with go 7400 C2D and 2GB RAM for 1000, I dont know if still its available.

    Oops, I was looking at the wrong computer. Looks like the one you mentioned (with the 7400 processor) isn't there anymore.
