I'm considering the purchase of an HP Pavilion DV6Z with an AMD A6 processor and an AMD Radeon GDDR5 graphics card.

I'm writing the forum to ask if anyone can confirm that Google SketchUp 8 will run correctly and well on a DV6Z configured this way. (SketchUp is a 3D CAD/drawing application)

I'm need to confirm that SketchUp will run on a DV6Z because:

-Google requires that PCs running SketchUp have graphics card drivers that support OpenGL 1.5 or higher. They've seen problems with Intel based graphics cards, and recommend against them (therefore my interest in an AMD graphics card)

-AMD's website says the Radeon card supports OpenGL.

-But I found an HP notice on their website that says "the AMD graphics card in newer HP Pavilion dv6 and dv7 Series models may not run certain OpenGL software".

So....can anyone confirm SketchUp works on an HP DV6Z?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

    Thanks for your information.

Am I better off to seek an Intel-based graphics card, despite Google's warning?

OR - is a PC with NVIDIA graphics a good option?

No not at all. Intel stills remain the worse.
The best option since it is unknown when or if AMD will fix the issue is to get a laptop with a dedicated graphic card, either AMD or Nvidia of medium level will work okay.
Or if you have a big store with that laptop model above ask the vendor to install Google Sketchup in the laptop that is on show and test it.

NO intel card is just as bad.
The ATI card isnt bad, its just that because of the technology in the Fusion chip it will always select the Intel card over the ATI card

That is wrong, there is no Intel Card in Fusion chip. There is a cheap ATI gpu plus a medium ATI gpu.

Im sorry , in Fusion it selects the weak ATI GPU over the stronger one(6750m i think).

But in other laptops (the ones with sandy bridge) with switchable ATI graphics it selects the Intel card
