I was watching a movie the other day and had headphones plugged in, however whenever I got a message from someone on Google Talk I realized that I would hear the "ding" sound of Google Talk in my headphones, but the sound from the movie would come out of the speakers for a second. I'm guessing this has something to do with the mixer, and I usually can figure this kind of stuff out myself but just cannot seem to find a solution this time. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

It has to do with which output google talk is outputting to, and I haven't found a fix for this yet, but you can try fiddling around with the settings

The same problem appears with gmail and its video chat...

Yea it's kind of annoying how HP has configured the audio settings on the Envy. The speakers and headphones are grouped together which I think is contributing to this problem. On my other computers they are able to be configured separately.
