I had wondered if HDTV via the S-Video port through a different pinout or with a dongle, was possible or not, but I think I may have answered the question.

I connected an external monitor to the VGA port of my dv9201 (dv9000) Vista machine. With the latest TweaksRUs drivers running on the Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 chip. I also connected the TV Out via S-Video.

I wanted to see what kind of combinations of monitors I could enable...and it allowed me to enable the VGA out monitor, as well as TV-Out. However! For the first time, it allowed me to force any signal I wanted through the TV-Out. So I selected "HDTV/Component", and then bang... The Svideo connection to my TV started to look all messed up and flickery, like it does when you don't connect a component setup properly, or have your device set to a different kind of HDTV signal.

Unfortunately, I don't have the proper S-Video cable that splits into the three RCA component cables (Y/Pb/Pr) to REALLY test this out, but, it appears, with one, this might work. Nor do I have an HDTV, I can only do 480i, but I believe one of the HDTV output choices was indeed, 480i.

I have since disconnected the external VGA monitor after this "test" and sold it off, and I cannot get the Nvidia driver to give me the HDTV component option anymore. I'm thinking, maybe I need one of these dongles or the proper pinout and connect it to the component in on the TV, so the computer will detect a component connection. Something about connecting the VGA monitor up as well as the SVideo at the same time, made the card enable component output.

Ideas, thoughts? Anyone know the pinout of the Nvidia Svideo-to-Component adapter? If someone can point me to the pinout somewhere on the net, I'll try hooking it up, but I can't find one. Or maybe, a VGA-to-component cable will work, eh?

This might be a good score if we could all hookup out 6150s to HDTVs with component inputs! I mean, the Nvidia tech spec DOES have HDTV out on the 6000 and above series chips!

I think the #2 option in your reply, Spaceman2004, might be a better choice. They're very cheap on Ebay, but shipping from Hong Kong...could take DAYS. Argh! I wish I could find something continentally. I think I might be better off just making my own or having one custom made from an electronics shop here, eh?

I am surprised more people on this forum have not talked about the possibility of this HDTV function working on the laptop. This is HDTV, people...isn't this a great thing, if it works?
