Hi, i apologise if this is a double post but i can't seem to get to a solution using stickies or search.

i just received a dv2700tv as a replacement for my defective dv2400t and i am having a horrifying time installing drivers for XP. the system came with vista preinstalled but i wiped the hard drive and clean installed a dual boot config with XP and Vista Ultimate. i slipstreamed SATA drivers for XP using nlite and i successfully installed XP without issues except of course for the drivers.

    the config is shown below:

    BIOS: Phoenix F.2A 3/25/2008
    SMBIOS ver.: 2.4
    Core 2 Duo T8100 (2.1GHz)
    3GB RAM
    Conexant High Definition Smartaudio 221
    Broadcom Bluetooth
    Nvidia Geforce 8400M GS
    Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN
    Marvell Yukon 88E8039 ethernet

there are some other parts in there but i am not sure they are vital to my issue. i found the ethernet drivers and the wireless drivers for XP using windows update. the drivers for the graphics cards i found a modified one from Laptop2Go which seems to work fine but i haven't tried gaming yet so i dont know.

my biggest issue right now is getting the audio working. i have tried the vista version and it doesn't work and i am not sure how to modify it. other issues are the bluetooth, card reader and two other devices which the computer does not seem to recognize.

has anyone tried a clean install of XP on this system? if so how did you get the aforementioned drivers?

    thanks for any help.

by the way, vista works great on the system but i want to dual boot cos i need to run a few programs which cant run on vista, e.g Nero 7.0, Matlab 7

I found 2 different drivers for conexant sound cards but they are different cards from mine. i have the conexant smartaudio 221 but these drivers do not work.

i have tried regular install but the software can't find the card. i have also tried manual install by pointing device manager to the driver folder and that doesn't work either. PLEASE HELP!

Did you allow the Device Manager to try and find a suitable driver on the web?

yeah i tried but it only found the ethernet and wireless drivers.

i got them from the HP website. i don't remember where exactly but i will find them and upload if needed. i used nlite to slipstream them to a HP windows xp cd.

it is driver sp38088.exe from here ( driver). or go to software and driver downloads on HP website, enter your laptop model and click on windows xp and select the intel matrix storage driver. after downloading, extract the files in the executable to a folder you can remember.

now when you slipstream using nlite select that folder and make sure to use text mode driver and not pnp

after much sweat and countless days of searching for drivers i finally got windows xp running on my dv2700tv (special edition) with all drivers installed.

it turns out that all the drivers i needed except for the video were on the HP website when i searched under the generic dv2000t cto windows xp driver page. i was having a hard time finding the drivers for my audio card cos i was searching for conexant drivers and none of them work even though my card displays as a conexant smartaudio 221 card under vista. i finally got it to work once i used the microsoft UAA drivers and yes, the microphone does work perfectly and i think the microphone jack works perfectly too but i couldn't really test it properly 'cos i have no microphone. i did use a headphone plugged in the mic jack (yeah u can use a headphone as a microphone) and it worked but the person on the other end couldn't hear me clearly but i think that is because i was using the sony in-ear headphone (ex55) and the diaphragm is too small to pick up properly. windows update found the ethernet and wireless 4965AGN drivers.

for the video (8400M GS) i got the modified drivers from laptopvideo2go. i will post the links to all the drivers i got and directions later but don't hesitate to ask me any questions and i will be ready to answer.
