    HP NC8000 LE DV107U
    - 1.4 CPU
    - 512Mo RAM DDR 333
    - 40go 5400rpm
    - Radeon 9600 PRO 64mo
    - 15" SXGA
    - Intel 802.11b

    Plus
    - Great screen
    - Feels solid.. well built
    - Smaller than I would had tought
    - Nice performances
    - Low noise
    - Wifi on/off easy access button
    - Looks nice IMO
    - Keyboard is very nice and the layout is well designed
    - Low heat
    - Speakers sounds nice for a laptop
    - Battery life is on par with what I need
    - Gigabit lan is interesting
    - A lot of option for the touchpad.. emulate a scroll wheel, can assign "shourtcut" for the 4 corners... Ex.If you tap the low-right corner, it opens the Windows Start menu... There are customisable
    - There is a mute button which is very usefull
    - WinXP PRO
    - The weight is OK for me...
    - 1 free bay for battery, HD or other
    - SD card reader
    - Has a DVD + CDR drive

    Cons
    - The tough pad would have to be more fast... You have to move and move to get where you want to go
    - I think the 512mo is 2*256...
    - No built in floppy ... but I dont often use floppy ...

It is the 1st laptop I own... But I worked with IBM, DELL, EUROCOM, TOSHIBA and COMPAQ ones...

So far, i'm very happy with it... I paid $2300 CAN + $200 for the 3 years accidental protection so it sounds like a good deal to me.

I have a Linksys WRT54G router and the wireless is working A1. Only 11mbps but it's enough for internet surfing ... in the living room !!! It's my first real wifi experience and I have to say I LOVE IT !

    Accessories I bought
    - Logitech Traveler mouse
    - Targus security cable
    - Targus numeris USB keypad
    - Targus case
    - Belkin USB led ( flylight )
    - USB floppy
    - IOGEAR micro usb 2.0 hub
    - APC surge protection

    Hey Maxqc,

Congratulations on your first notebook [ :D]. I was actually considering the NC8000 model as well. I was gonna get the 1.7Ghz model. I tried the N800c, N620c & an NX7000, they were all good units, but all had some sort of issue that could not be resolved. I was originally thinking about the Presario R3000, ZX5000 and even one of the ZD7000 17" models, but when I checked out the NC8000, it peaked my interest, especially since it's smaller than it looks. The only thing it's missing is the DVD Burner.
Please let me know how the unit performs after you've had some time to work/play with it. I'd love to get some more feedback.
