Right now I have just gotten the laptop. However, the laptop came with a Intel Family 4 Series Chipset which is a shared card with apprx memory of 1309MB but its shared. Can I uprade the graphics card to like Nvidia 8 series 512 MB card?

No, you cannot upgrade the graphics card.

Sorry, but notebook graphics cards (generally) cannot be upgraded. Yours is not an exception to the rule.
