Great deal I fell upon today for an envy.

Hey guys. I've been looking for a decent sub $1000 laptop lately (trying to get closer to the 800 price range). I was just checking out random stores in town when i walked into Staples. I saw they had an HP envy (not the top top of the line specs but decent) with i5-460m, 4GB ram, ATI 5650 switchable graphics, etc etc. It was 1050 on sale for 950 but i figured that would work for what I need (college work, word processing, light gaming) so i decided to pick it up. When the guy at the counter scanned it in the price was $750. I thought I'd pass this on in case you know anyone looking for a decent laptop in that price range. I have only been messing with it for a day but already love the envy 14.

Very cool dude, would you mind saying what city you're in? Trying to get a feel for how local this might be.

This was in Sioux Falls, SD so a pretty large city. The staples site didnt even show it in stock...just one in the back when he went and checked. Don't know if it meams anything but my model number is 1110Nr opposed to the model listed on staples site.

i went to high school in sioux falls, but i'm working in nyc now - might go back again for medschool though... so much cheaper...

envy 14 is a great computer - i had one and absolutely loved it, especially the audio jack. if there was an envy 14 with sandy bridge quad cores and ati 6750/6770m, i'd be hopping all over it! however, settling for the new dv6 for now.

i am hoping it will last more than 1,5 years, as that would be a bit short.
I would like to get at least 4 years out of it :)

What I mean by 1.5 years is that I hope it can handle the new games with a decent framerate for 1.5-2 years. I can play most stuff on highest settings and I even have bulletstorm running on medium. With how good the build quality seems to be on this laptop I could see it making 4 years easy without any hardware issues.
