This is one of the oddest things I have ever seen with any optical drive before, first off. So I put in 2 brand new HD DVD's in my dv9700t which is a week old and first they take forever to boot up. The once they get to their menu's in Quickplay, I can start the movie, it goes thru all the security and FBI screens and then the movie wont play. After maybe 10 mins of letting it sit, I'll get some audio and then clips of video and then nothing again. My regular DVD playback is absolutely fine though.... I have tried the HP driver install and still nothing. Im considering returning this now for the ASUS M50sv if this cannot be resolved quickly. Anyone with the same issues?

    T9300
    Vista Home Premium
    3GB DDR2
    8400m GS
    160GB 5400 and 320 5400

I was able to get the $500 off code of the 150 that were available, so I am not so happy to return it since i got an 1800 computer for 1400 after tax. I just wish the thing would work... Its brand new. If I return it I'm getting the ASUS M50sv-A1

I think phifer's suggestion should be given a thought!

I had problems playing HD on my DV9000. After being on the phone to customer service for about 3 hours and several driver updates later I finally got it sorted. Apparently the Quickplay software is rubbish (this was told to me in not so many words by the Hp person on the phone). Before I got it sorted the assistant suggested sending back the laptop and replacing the HD drive with a regular drive and upgrading something else. Probably would have been better off doing this since HD has recently kicked the bucket. I'd definitely try get the Blu Ray drive replacement though if I were you.

I agree. You might have to pay a few extra bucks but it will be worth it in the long run
