    Hello everyone.

I own an HP HDX16t since many years, and bought an HDD caddy which lets me replace the CD drive into a 2nd HDD.

I bought it from EBAY. Installation was very easy, and the laptop recognized the 2nd drive easily. It's a drive like this one:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2nd-Hard-Dr...B-/111344345633?ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123

Now, I installed a new SSD drive as main HDD, and put the old HDD in the new caddy as a bakup drive.
The problem is that the laptop, when booting, first tries to boot from the HDD caddy, and since there's no OS installed on it, it gives me an error that no OS is available. I attached the message I get.

Obviously, I tried to change the BIOS settings, in all possible settings, by prioritizing boot from the internal HDD, but nothing happens... I have to manually enter the BIOS bootup drive selection, and select the internal HD so I can boot to Windows.

Is there any solution for this? I tried contacting the original seller, but I didn't get any reply.

    thanks!

Instead of changing priority, have you tried disabling altogether? And was the old hdd reformatted completely? I.e. including the mbr?

Boot priority should still have taken precedence though ... if all else fails; try ye' old master/slave jumpers.

    Thank you for the reply.

I tried disabling, but it didn't work. somehow it still boots from the caddy (in this case CD drive in the BIOS settings).

Actually not. I didn't format it. Is there a way to delete the MBR without the need of backing up all data on another drive and do a complete format??

Before I take the HD our, do SATA drives have master/slave jumpers???

    Thanks again|!

Ok, finally I fixed this issue by simply deleting the primary active partition which had the OS in the original HD. Creating a new partition apparently deleted the MBR, and now I boot directly from internal SSD drive.

    Thanks for the advice!!!
