Hey guys, I have a question on HDMI and sound output. I have a notebook with HDMI out on it and I use it to record some tv and play it back on a Samsung LNT3253H ( a 32 inch samsung lcd) and I get the video to output fine, I had to update my video drivers and resize the desktop but I cant figure out how to have the sound from what im playing output through my tv. After all, the HDMI should be carrying audio and video. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this happen?

If you are using Vista, right click on the sound icon on the taskbar, go to Playback Devices, and set the default to the HDMI output one. At least that is what I do on my Dell XPS M1330, and I also have to put the computer in Standby and wake it back up in order for the audio to switch over to HDMI. Weird I know.

Advice I had from HP on this was first to go into Quickplay, select Analog Speakers (not SPDIF) and then mute the volume on the speakers. (The speakers are probably selected as default but I had tried to select SPDIF to solve the problem).

Next, go into the audio control panel as suggested and select the digital output (on my dv9590 this is "Realtek Digital Output / High Definition Audio").

This solution worked fine for me, don't recall any need to go in/out of Sleep either.
