I got Windows 7 ultimate installed on my laptop (did a clean install). I am trying to get output from my HDMI port to the TV but when I plug the cable in my laptop screen goes black and there is nothing showing on the tv. Please help.

Anything in the Nvidia control panel that could be set for the "secondary" screen?

    Like "setup multiple display"?

Actually, I think that plugging in the HDMI cable is making the computer crash. The computer doesn't crash in 'safe mode'. How can I track down what on bootup is making it crash?

What do you mean by that? There is no projector or i am wrong?

Bird333 i would try to upgrade Nvidia drivers or choose older ones. it could be more deep and the chipset drivers could be making some trouble if you say that in safe mode it doesn't crash. Check Windows Event Viewer for errors.

I have upgraded the driver twice. I am currently running 195.81. I do think it is the driver though. Which Nvidia driver do you recommend? Should I see the HDMI port in Device Manager?

Sorry mine is an ATI one so i can't give more than general advice.

I have an ATI High Definition Audio Codec besides IDT one in "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" in Device Manager. That is the only thing i see.No HDMI.

In my IDT control panel i have "enable this device in "ATI HDMI Output"

Might want to check your settings as others have suggested by going to the display settings. Either try right clicking on the desktop then going to "Screen Resolution", or try giving Fn+F4 a try, or also try Win+P. Hopefully you get it sorted out if its your drivers.
