I have my Dv5T (9600Gt) hooked up to my home theater system. I have the HDMI out from the laptop connected to my Receiver (Onkyo TX_SR705) and then from there out to my TV. (Samsung 5084T plasma)...
Everything works fine, audio and video, EXCEPT...
I can not change the output resolution on the laptop to 1920 x 1080. I am only able to get 1680 x 1050 out, and I can not adjust the HDMI output, all the settings are grayed out.
I think this might have something to do with the fact that the HDMI goes through the receiver before it goes to the TV. The laptop recognizes the receiver in the "monitors" section of the Nvidia control panel, but it wont let me adjust any settings!
Help, I just want to have full 1080 out to my TV!

It's probably because the display on the dv5t is only 1680x1050, so if you are using the TV as a duplicate display then it will only let you set the resolution to match the display of your laptop. If you had a laptop with a 1920x1080 screen, then it would display 1080p on both the laptop and TV.
Did you try setting up the TV as an "extended" display rather than a duplicate display? That might allow you to change the resolution of the external display to 1920x1080. And just to make sure, your TV is 1080p right?
