Hi:
I have the HP 6500t with the nVidia 8400m gs which includes the HDMI port in the back. I would like to connect the laptop to my TV so that I can watch movies...etc on a bigger screen. The problem is that the back of my TV only has DVI and the 6 different-colored component cables.
Is there a way to connect from my hdmi output to the dvi input for my TV?
Also, is the audio included with this cable or do I need another audio cable?
Thanks!

Audio is usually included with HDMI but won't work with the DVI so....
You need a HDMI->DVI (and be sure to take the good kind of DVI because there is like 4 kinds: DVI-I male/female, DVI-D male/female) and that won't transmit sound. I believe they also do cables that start with HDMI and end with DVI
If your plan is to watch blu-ray/HD-DVD forget it, DVI isn't HDCP compatible AFAIK -
you need to get a hdmi to dvi cable. like this one http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimi...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1196988189&sr=8-1
since dvi wont do audio you need to get a toslink to 3.5mm cable and hook that up to the spdif in the front of the laptop. its the one next to the headphone jack. Plug the toslink side into your receiver and you will now have 5.1 sound.
