    Personally, I believe you'd be much better served with a desktop than these extremely large "notebook" machines. Not only is it cheaper, but more powerful and fully upgradeable.

    True, but a lappy, even one this big, is more "green" than a desktop. A desktop's watts at idle is almost invariably more than a lappy's at full tilt. Plus all lappies come with a built in long running UPS known as a battery.

    Upgradeablility is mostly a thing for enthusiasts. I'm still rolling with a 6 year old Dell Inspiron. Bought new stuff lately, but still. And all I ever upgraded was the RAM, HD and CPU.

    if it cant be used on your lap... and has less than 2hours of battery its just a nice small well cased Desktop with less wires thats my view.

    Its classified as a desktop replacement, its still more portable than a real desktop.

    Its not really as big as it sounds.
