Hi, this is my first time posting so please be nice =). I just recently purchased the HP HDX 16 and the fan seems to be louder than most laptops. I have done my research on the internet and it seems like some people have this problem and others don't. If anyone else has this problem or knows how to solve it pls help. THANKS

Upon booting, keep pressing the F10 key. This will bring up the Bios menu. Under "System Configuration", disable Fan always on. That should do it.
BTW I have a HDX16 too. The fan is perfectly acceptable on mine.

Well... I was thinking about doing that, but the GPU is at 40 degrees celcius when idle and about 50 when playing games (this is with the fan running constantly). Would it be a smart idea? Also, when you say that the noise is acceptable, im not sure what is actually acceptable since my old laptop was much more quiet.

By acceptable, I mean it's not an issue for me. I wouldn't consider it noisy at all. This could just be my perception, or perhaps some are louder than others and I have a quiet one.
Why don't you try it and keep monitoring your temps, then decide for yourself? You could always switch it back when doing something that is GPU intensive.
