HDX 16, HDX 18 Compaire

Not in a race on which is better mind you, since these two are next-of-kin. But I mean which parts will fit both? I've been looking for some upgrade parts to the HDX 18, but all I seem to find are parts rated for the HDX 16. So, save the obvious screen size difference, just how comparable are these two in parts?

The keyboards look identical; and the extended battery I found lists a match for the HDX 16 but not the HDX 18. Would there be a size difference? Anyone care to speculate?

 

I know for sure the keyboard and touch pad are the same. Perhaps also the bezel around the keyboard and the touch sensitive bar.

 

I think the only big difference between the 16 and 18 are the screen, motherboard and actual chassis. Everything else should work between the 16 and 18.

 

I'd certainly like to think the battery would fit. It certainly seems plausible. I just wish there was someway to be sure. I know I could ask the seller, but I know they will say anything to get the sale--especially on a mail order--so I can't really count on them for my best interest.
There used to be a HDX 16 at Bestbuy I should have taken my battery in and compared it then.

 

Download both repair manuals from HP website and compare part numbers. That's the easiest way to know what parts are exactly same.

 

Err, forgot about the battery. The 16's battery is either a 6/12 cell, but the 18's only an 8 cell, unless there's a 16 cell battery somewhere.
