I upgraded... via a clean install... from Vista 64-bit to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on my wife's HDX 16 laptop. I downloaded all of the drivers from the HP website, but I cannot get the touchpad to work. It shows that it is on and pressing the on/off button does not turn it off (does not turn the light to orange), but either way, the touchpad does not respond.

It is showing the correct driver in Device Manager, no conflicts... and I have downloaded the latest driver from Synapsis, but still cannot get it to work. She uses a mouse, but occasionally she might use the touchpad. We ordered her a new Envy and may give this HDX to our daughter and all she uses is the touchpad, so I would really like to get it fixed.

Any ideas what might be the issue?

    Thanks!

    Try this:

Battery out. A/C out. Hold down the power button for 30 Secs.

Then A/C back in and boot up.

You aren't giving me the code to activate the self-destruction mode are you?

LOL. No. That acts as a sort of reset. And it clears out any residual capacitance.
