Couple of questions regarding these 2.

    1) They both have the 9600m GT, so which one is better at handling heat?

    2) Is the touch-sensitive buttons problem present on the HDX?

Thanks, and sorry I have to make a thread for this. My search function is not working.

I hear that the hdx16 is better at handling heat and most of the reviews say that it ran pretty cool even during gaming while people with dv5t say it runs oven hot.

im not sure what this business is with the touch sensitive buttons but honestly they are faulty on all the hp laptops so dont really expect them to function well anywhere.

i was in the same position you are between an hdx16 and dv5t but then i figured an extra fraction of an inch for such differences in specs and design is definetley worth it. if its still within your budget go for it, a bigger higher resolution true widescreen and that amazing design are enough.

I can tell you that the HDX16 is very quiet. I was very impressed because I know the DV series are quite loud.
