So I got my HDX 18 yesterday, very impressed. I have the T9550 with DDR3 option.

So I installed Windows 7 RC and downloaded all the latest drivers. I got all the drivers working without any problems, besides when I installed the latest AUDIO drivers from the HP Website, the system became very slow, even when trying to move the volume bar up, it would freeze up. So I removed that driver and installed the driver that came in the SWSetup folder on my drive, that seemed to work just fine.

The real problem im having is with the GFX Drivers, and maybe it's just me, but it feels VERY slugish when moving windows around, and I even see a delay when right clicking on icons on the desktop, this can't be right? I have 185.81_notebook_win7_64bit_beta.exe nvidia driver installed.

After running win7 I desided to install vista 64bit, and the GFX works great in vista, no slug at all... Anyone else with this problem?

    Hello there,

I’m Having the same problem with Windows 7 RC and the same driver you mentioned. I thought it was because of my Nvidia 9200 that throttles MUCH! and the GDDR2.. So I decide to do the same thing you did, roll back to vista!!!!

It sounds a bit strange that you are having this problems, I mean, with a graphic chip-NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT-like yours, it is strange..Have you tried using driver 185.8 issued for vista, it is supposed to work for 7… let me know

It seems Win 7 still has minor driver issues with the HDX18. I was worried about the audio not working right on Win 7, but if this is only a driver issue I would think that there should be a workaround coming from HP by the time the RTM is out.

Quick question, does SmartProtect HD work? Does the light turn orange when transporting or moving the laptop around?

I have a dv5t and it doesn't seem to be working, everything else is fine. But yea, I feel some sluggishness with the nvidia drivers and I have a 9600m GT. They better optimize this before RTM. Also, HP better release their drivers as well for all their notebooks.

thanks for the mention mujjuman, that's what it's there for.

    i am DE-LIGHTED with windows 7.

And i am running the 185.85 video from NVIDIA and it's fine for me.\

As far as the audio, I am, have not been, don't plan on being, happy with IDT support. That and the limited bios are the main gripes I have with the otherwise delightful machines. Some are happier with the windows driver for the IDT, I personally use the IDT driver on my thread, and it allows me (with the mediasmart) to be able to use the mediasmart volume, bass, treble controls and see it on screen in 32 and 64 bit. However, this does need some refinement, and seems to slow down whatever your doing whilst you are raising/lowering these values. I will keep trying the new releases. It's just a matter of time before they get this right.

"does the light turn orange?" I haven't tried the smartprotect. I will give it a look see.
