I was just looking at the service manual. It shows the procedure for removing the TV Tuner Card. This procedure seems very easy.

I was wondering if anyone has found a compatable TV tuner card with QAM built in? Does anyone know if HP will be providing upgade options for the tuner cards? So that once Cable goes all digital next year (one year to go) you can still use the PC as a HTPC.

The current HP digital tuner cards do not work with the digital cable signals. They only work with over the Air Digital signals.
This is becuae the tuner cards do not have a QAM demod built in.

If not. I guess I could just buy and external USB QAM tuner. When they comeo ut this summer.

Check this out. It's a QAM to ATSC converter. (Just in case HP comes out with a QAM card for the Montevina version of the HDX that's not compatible with the Santa Rosa version.)

It costs around $170. Just keep this in mind for the future.

The xxx-002 version of the Express Card slot tuner from HP (really a Hauppage) does QAM. You just need to buy one that is not old stock. I bought one off of ebay and it is 001. Bummer. They go for less than $50. Just make sure the seller has the newer version.
