I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction, I installed Win 7 on a HDX 9200, and there is no audio from the speakers on the laptop. I went all over the lounge thread trying all the ideas presented to no avail. The speakers are checked as default and when I play a sound the little graphic eq bar moves like it is playing.
I got this machine with no drives in it.
Here is the weird part, I installed Vista from an old set of install disks I had, and on first boot, the sound worked fine!!!!! I checked the device manager and under audio devices it had 2 "Standard HD audio devices" then I let windows update run, and the sound stopped working after the IDT drivers were installed.
I now have the latest IDT driver installed and the fix for the mute button color.

At this point I am pulling my hair out . . . am I missing something?

    I was hoping someone knew . . .

The 5511 or 5607 are the only driver versions that work reliably. New drivers don't work in the HDX.

You could try to install them with compatibility mode set to Vista.
