Its been 4 months now since i've been looking, still no luck. Please, does anybody have drivers for this computer running in XP? Its really starting to get annoying that i have no sound. This really sucks.

Hi yeah I think it sucks not to have sound drivers. I have a friend who also ordered it 3 months ago with no resolution for the sound problem.

I've been reading the HDX threads on here for quite some time now, and I keep hearing the same problem with no resolution so far. Everybody has been having this problem and no one has posted any successful attempts at installing the sound drivers for the HDX in XP.

Its total Bu11$h!t, i requested the drivers from HP in November and they said they were working on them. I say we all connect to the HP instant messenger with their technical service and keep asking them for the drivers.

Try this and see if this gets you anywhere further towards the goal:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111

Thing about this, to check to see if it install correctly, look in control panel/system/hardware/device manager. Look for MS UAA bus driver for HD. If it has a yellow (!) then choose install driver and let it do it automatically.

    Then maybe this afterwards:

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...&OSFullName=Windows* XP Professional&lang=eng

I understand that the audio hardware is a sigmatel IDT 9271.

Worse come to worse, a Set of PC speakers. I doubt that Sigmatel is going to release Xp drivers with Vista SP1 out in a few weeks. XP is legacy as far as they and HP is concerned. Especially considering that the HDX is a multimedia machine.

Man I searched and searched for the new post button to no avail so I picked you to help me find it but mainly to ask if
ANYONE with an hp dragon had gotton it to play quadraphonic and up. Mine only plays music stereo. the windows sound app test just fine giving me the test sounds for all four speakers, but I can't play music; I don't have the idt hi def proprietary sound control panel app on my system; and I can't find it on the idt web page; do any dragon owners out there have it and is that what I need to get sound out of this beast and can I get you to send the setup program or the link to me... I'm going crazy with 8 to 12 monster sized tower speakers in my room going to waste. by the way if you could please contact me also at [email protected] at least to tell me to check this site; i dont want to track this thread thereby getting a zillion email every time someone makes a post. thanks
