I currently own a HDX9494nr, and my touchpad and buttons are not working. I don't want to send it back, as this is my main computer, and I depend on it for work and leisure. Any suggestions for me? Maybe something I can fix, instead of shipping it back to HP and having no computer for two weeks? BTW, the cursor moves, but it dosen't respond when i tap it to open links or programs.

Perhaps it's a settings issue. I would do a system restore to the last good restore point and see if that works.

See blacknight's post on page 100 in the official HDX thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=169232&page=100

But before trying out the suggestions listed there try the following:

    1. Unplugg HDX, take the battery out.
    2. Press and hold the power button for 30 secs.
    3. battery back in and plug in. Boot up.

This didn't work, and as far as the posts go, I didn't see anything helpful other than trying to update the driver. I deleted the driver installed, restarted my computer, downloaded the driver and installed it again. Is there anything else I can do? I was thinking of taking a look inside to see if something was wrong there, but I don't want to void my warranty in case I have to ship it back to HP. Thanks in advance/

My mistake. Oddly, when I saw "touchpad" I thought it read Touch panel.

If you're up to the challenge, under the keyboard, there is the connector to the touch pad that may have dislodged or is not seated properly. Remove cable from connector, inspect, then reinsert.

See the connector on page 57 of the HDX service manual. See pages 50-52 for keyboard removal. (note: keyboard has adhesive around edges so when you remove the screws, you still have to pry it up a bit.)

opened it up last night, still nothing. I guess I'll have to send it back. Strange thing is when I reassembled it, a few of my keys weren't working. I disassembled/reassembled it three times now, still nothing. Any suggestions for that?

Better off sending it back. Though the problem seems to be a connector that is not seated/connected properly. Could also be a bad keyboard controller.
