Hi,
When I have Windows Vista 64 (the default OEM HP OS) installed without any driver upgrades, I have no problems with my HDX9494NR laptop. Windows update gives me the option to update my drivers on various hardware components but whenever I upgrade my wireless drivers Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965 with any driver supplied other than the default HP driver that came on my OS, I would get a memory dump IRQ_LESS_THAN_OR NOT_EQUAL when I transfer large files over the network or internet. I figured this out the hard way through trial and error and rolled back the drivers to the HP supplied drivers, and all is well.
I recently put the Windows 7 upgrade on my HDX and everything worked great... that is... until I tried to transfer a large file over the wireless adapter. After about 300-500 megabytes transferred, I would get the notorious IRQ_LESS_THAN_OR NOT_EQUAL memory dump again. I tried every single driver HP offered and it would not affect the result, still the old IRQ_LESS_THAN_OR NOT_EQUAL memory dump whenever I had a big transfer. Now the behavior looks like some sort of buffer file is filling up and causing the whole system to crash. I updated the bios and tried just about everything before I gave up and put the OEM Vista 64 back on it.
Has anybody out there seem to have seen this problem before? I suspect I either have a really finicky wireless card or perhaps there is some sort of hardware problem with the card that will have to go through HP warranty support for replacement. If anyone has a Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965 card please let me know if the Windows 7 or Vista 64 Windows update drivers cause the same problem for you. I love this notebook but the proprietary lock down of the bios is undesirable.
