    Hi All,

I recently bought an HP HDX 16 premium series, when I was creating the recovery discs the screen went off. I thought it was because I left it and didn't gave any input, and maybe a bug in the OS made it not come back. After the second disc was out I force shut down holding the power button for a few secs.

Sometimes it just does that, maybe shows me the logging screen 2 secs and then goes off. Then I realized that it is still on but its very dark. I went on to HP tech service chat and we tried several things, then he concluded that it was a backlight problem and needs to be changed....

Do you think it's the only way? does it really sounds like that? what do your experience could tell me about it? The problem is that I'm outside the US right now for a while and I'd have to ship the laptop to the US to be serviced for "free".

    Any inputs?

    HDX 16 premium series
Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit

    Regards
