I have a HDX 9010NR it has Vista Ultimate installed. Almost everytime it is put into sleep mode and remains in sleep mode for a while when I take it out of sleep mode by opening the lid it freezes with a blue screen. What can I do about this? I'd like to avoid calling HP support if possible. Thanks

It sounds like you may have a damged file on your drive. In this case you may want to do a recovery. Lets hope the damaged file is not on the recovery partition.
But, before you do. Just for the heck of it. Try putting the pc to sleep from some other screen or even sign off windows, Then close the lid and see what happens.
If it works. This shows us, it's a damaged file or program conflict cuasing this.
By-the-way Yes I know if you call HP support, all they will do is tell you to do a Factory Recovery which I just told you. Hee Hee.
How long have you had it?
If it is less then 21 days old. I would return it.
. So if you don't get any other responses here or ways to fix this. Make sure you don't go past 21 days. Otherwise the best you can hope for would be an exchange. This after you would have to send the PC in at least 3 times for an attempted repair. The attempted repairs may end up putting dents and other damages to the case as seen by many posters here.

I did try the recovery. I then tried to make it hang coming out of sleep it did not hang at all. I proceeded to load programs one at a time and tried to make it freeze but it still worked fine. I installed Slingplayer and then it froze up after sleep, I removed Slingplayer and it is working fine again. Is it possible that installing a program could make it freeze like that? Thanks for the help.

Have you tried the latest version of slingplayer?
1.5.325 is the latest I have. -
I would try this.
This will mean having to re-do all your slingplayer settings.
Uninstall the entire slingplayer program.
Make sure the program file folder that slingplayer get installed in is gone.
Next download the latest version and re-install it.
If that doesn't work. Then we know it not a damaged slingplayer file.
By-the-way. I have the slingplayer pro. I just tried both Sleep and Hibernate modes. No problems.
I wish they had a feature to reconnect to the stream when you come out of sleep mode.
Good Luck.
